BJJ World Champion and Yoga Coach
Sebastian Brosche is a 2nd degree Judo & BJJ black belt, two-time purple belt world champion, 4x european champion, and a passionate advocate for yoga in BJJ. At age 26 Sebastian was plagued by injuries—unable to even put on his socks without a special routine. Yoga, he says, saved his BJJ career.
In 1991 Sebastian began training judo and transitioned to BJJ in 2007, discovering that his judo style worked well in BJJ. Within his first week, he had "downloaded all the pirated DVDs" he could find, diving into BJJ. In 2008, he competed at the World Championships as a blue belt, winning three matches. His drive led him to move to Norway to train at reknowned Frontline Academy, where he earned double gold at the Mundials as a purple belt—but at a cost to his body. He took a year off to save his career with Yoga.
When he returned, yoga had transformed his flexibility, mobility, balance, and body control. With support from his wife Stine, a yoga instructor, he launched Yoga for BJJ, a platform now offering over 500 videos & Programs for grapplers.
Sebastian emphasizes a dynamic yoga flow combining strength, flexibility, and mobility—like "doing Jiu-Jitsu with your own body." He believes yoga for BJJ is about improving breathing, energy conservation, and mental calmness. To him, yoga is *the best warm-up and cool-down* for Jiu-Jitsu.
Sebastian has seen yoga benefit grapplers of all ages and abilities. His mission is to have *one person in every gym practicing Yoga for BJJ, sharing its benefits*. He offers free trials and discounts for those wanting to become Yoga for BJJ instructors.
Outside of BJJ and yoga, Sebastian is a dedicated family man, living in Spain with Stine, three children, and nine dogs.
